Wednesday, May 6, 2009 D for Dinosaur Day

Waiting for Bubbie to get the work sheets.

Working on tracing dinosaurs with the puzzle pieces.

Coloring dinosaur pictures. Sara has a new box of crayons and really likes all the colors.

For lunch Bubbie fixed Dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets from the kosher store in Dallas.

She made Dinosaur salad too.

Dinosaur eggs and diced apples (dinosaurs love apples!) completed the meal.

After saying the bracha we ate our lunch, yum yum.

For dessert we had strawberry frozen treats.

While Sophie took her nap Sara worked on a special project: digging a baby dinosaur out of an egg with special tools.

Hammering with the tiny hammer

Using the tiny chisel

Brushing away the dust with a tiny brush

Is that a tiny foot?

The tiny dino is almost out of the egg now.

This kind of work takes a lot of concentration.

Here is the tiny dinosaur!

Sara introduces the baby to his mother.

He loves his mother and she loves him!

Sara and Sophie got to stay over for dinner with Pop!

On her own (without any help) Sara made a dinosaur out of her banana and crackers.

Sophie thought it was a good morning for a drive.

Sara picked a tiny (very very tiny) purple flower for Bubbie.

Two budding artists did some sidewalk art with the new chalk we bought last week. Sara drew a beautiful elephant!

After a busy morning it seemed like a good time for a swim in the new pool Bubbie bought for $4.99 at the end of last summer at Family Dollar.

After swimming it was time for lunch. Haley enjoyed her snacks.

After lunch it was time for some more playing before going home for the day. (There was not enough time for a nap because it was so much fun outside.)

Today we put our attention on the letter S. Several times when I would ask Sara what a word starts with and she would say, "S" I would then ask Sophie and she would repeat, "S". It was so cute. She is really starting to be able to repeat words so I can understand them.

The first thing Sara wanted to do this morning was play with the little building things that they played with yesterday. I got out the lego so they could play with both together. They SHARED nicely.

It was such a nice morning we went outside to ride on the SIDEWALK in the wagon.

When we came inside we spent some time SINGING SONGS. We SANG The Itsy Bitsy SPIDER.

We STACKED the blocks.

We talked about SISTERS.

The book we read today was about SEASONS. Two SEASONS begin with the letter S: SPRING and SUMMER. (SEE SOPHIE'S SILLY SOCKS.)

We had fun STAMPING on SPARKLY paper.

Sara used SPARKLY glue to glue pictures of things that start with the letter S on her paper.

Sophie was STUBBORN and did not want to work on her paper.

For lunch we had: SPINACH SPAGHETTI with SAUCE, SALAD, STRING cheese, STRAWBERRIES, and SNICKERDOODLE cookies.

I had planned to take a picture of them SLEEPING after lunch, but they did not go to sleep, so I will end today's post with a picture of SWEET Sophie.
